What we know about this register

Top 3,000 Ivorian SURNAMES (noms) with per-name bearer counts, ranked, scraped from the server-side-rendered paginated list (pages 0-59, 50 names/page) at /nom-prenoms-civ/nom. We ingest the page-level "Tout age" (all-ages) national aggregate. The site additionally exposes per-surname age-band (25-30, 30-35, 35-40, 40-50, 50-70, 70+ ans) and per-commune breakdowns on detail pages (/nom-prenoms-civ/nom/{rank}); those are NOT ingested here. SURNAMES ONLY: despite the site title "Nom et Prénoms" and a "Prénoms" menu entry, that menu item points at the same /nom path and the obvious /prenom path 404s — there is no separate given-names dataset. No XHR/JSON API; the only scripts are Google AdSense, so a static fetch + regex parse suffices. PROVENANCE UNVERIFIED: the underlying data is undisclosed — site footer reads "Copyright ©2015 Emc2 | Administration"; it is a .ci domain but is NOT attributed to any Ivorian government body and is not government-traceable. Sanity: sum of the listed top-3,000 counts = 4,853,957 bearers (~16.7% of the ~29M population); plausible as the head of the surname distribution since the published tail stops at 133 bearers (rank 3,000) and rarer surnames are not listed. Tier 4, status normalized. Scraper scripts/scrape_ci_nomprenoms.py, raw HTML cached in raw/CI/.

About this data

Official figures are reproduced from the register named beside them, at the year named beside them, and are never combined across registers. The "across all records" ranking counts records in our own corpus — historical registers, the diaspora, business and place records — and is not a population count. Bearer estimates are omitted where a name accounts for more than a quarter of a country's records, because the estimate is not defensible there. Names listed by reference works and licensed name dictionaries are cited as attesting a name; their figures are not published.
