In Swedish, Sinikka är ett finskt litterärt namn, bildat med diminutivändelsen -kka till färg beteckningen sini- ’blå’. Ändelsen -kka förekommer bl.a. i ord som betecknar bär, växter och djur, t.ex. mustikka ’blåbär’ till musta ’svart’. Sinikka lanserades av författaren Eino Leino i dramat Lalli (1907) och togs in i den finska almanackan 1929.
